HEALING HAZELNUT
Running with Purpose
Healing Hazelnut running group was created in 2023 to support the Balthrop Family and all cancer fighters and their families. This year is extra special as Hazel plans to ring that bell in April and will receive her last dosage of chemo within a week of the race. Hazel’s parents, family members, and friends are signed up for the 1/2 Marathon on Sunday 3/16 and would love you to join the team! Either physically, as a spectator, OR by donating to Mama Bears in Hazel’s name.

Hazel's Story
Hazel Balthrop was diagnosed with B-Cell ALL (Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia) on January 10, 2023.
At the time, Hazel was a normal 4 year old girl. She loved dance, gymnastics, art, princesses, and a unique love of Stevie Nicks. At the time of diagnosis, Hazel’s only symptom at the time was a significant amount of bruising on her arms, torso and legs. She was an otherwise healthy, energized, happy 4 year old girl.
